About Dr. Wass
Dr. Kim J. Wass, a Board certified orthodontist, is a native of Ames, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree and received his DDS degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1982.
Dr. Wass continued his education an additional two years, earning his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate and completing his Master of Science Degree from the University of Iowa Orthodontic Residency Program in 1984. He joined his boyhood orthodontist and mentor, Dr. Jack Sturdivant, in his Ames practice and has been making beautiful smiles ever since! Dr. Wass opened his Nevada office in 2015.
In 1993, Dr. Wass earned the designation of Diplomate by the American Board of Orthodontics. Certification by the Board is based on clinical proficiency and standards for dental specialists. He has established a practice of excellence by providing his patients with state-of-the-art technology and quality care. Dr. Wass prides himself in being central Iowa’s leader in the use of 3D technology and is the first full-time orthodontist in the state to use the SureSmile® system.
In addition to being board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Wass is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and both state and local dental organizations. Dr. Wass is a past-president of both the Iowa Society of Orthodontists and the Ames Area Dental Study Club. He has served on the board of the Ames Education Foundation and as well on the Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation Board and the Story County Red Cross Board.
Dr. Wass is an instrument rated private pilot and frequently flies to continuing education meetings! He enjoys running, photography and music. His wife, Joan, grew up in Oskaloosa. Together they enjoy playing golf, exercising and visiting their two adult children and their families.
